Business Formation Documents

To get your business up and running on Fin.com, we need to verify its legal creation. The documents required depend on your entity type.

Acceptable Formation Documents by Entity Type

  • Business License
  • Trade Name Registration
  • DBA (“Doing Business As”) Filing
  • General Partnerships (GP)
    • Partnership Agreement
    • Business License (must list all partners)
    • Trade Name Registration (DBA) listing all partners
  • Limited Partnerships (LP)
    • Certificate or Registration of Limited Partnership: The official filing with the Secretary of State or a similar government body.
  • Limited Liability Partnerships (LLP)
    • Certificate or Registration of Limited Liability Partnership: The official registration document filed with a government body.
  • Articles of Incorporation: Filed with the Secretary of State or similar authority.
  • Certificate of Incorporation: The official government-issued certificate.
  • Articles of Organization: Your official filing with the state or government body.
  • Certificate of Incorporation: The state-issued document confirming the LLC’s creation.
  • Articles of Incorporation or Certificate of Incorporation.
  • Tax-Exempt Application: You must also provide Form 1023 or 1023-EZ (filed with the IRS for 501(c)(3) status or similar tax-exempt recognition).
  • Articles of Incorporation or Certificate of Incorporation filed with the appropriate government body.
  • Legal Entity Formation: If your DAO is registered as a legal entity (like an LLC), provide the state-filed documents.
  • Alternative DAO Documents: If no legal entity exists, we accept:
    • White Paper
    • Membership or Token Agreement
    • Governance Framework
  • Trust Deed (or Trust Agreement): The document establishing the trust and outlining roles (trustors, trustees, beneficiaries).
  • Certificate of Trust (or Abstract of Trust): Proof of the trust’s existence and the trustee’s authority.
  • Notarized Trustee’s Affidavit: A signed document confirming the identities and authority of the involved parties.
  • Articles of Incorporation: Your state-filed document establishing the cooperative and its members.
  • Bylaws: Official rules detailing how the cooperative is governed and operated.
  • Membership Agreement: A document outlining the specific rights and responsibilities of your members.

Country Specific Requirements

Mexico: You must provide a copy of your entity filing document (Cedula de Identificacion Fiscal) that confirms the company’s RFC.
